Journal entry—a victory over alcohol

By សតិវ អតុ
Monday was a day of guzzling booze, mostly those little shooters. I hung out with my wife after shooting two one-shot drinks of brandy. I also found a couple of shots of 99 Bananas. I got a bit buzzed and the wife and I got in a fight on the way to Kirbys. Originally I was just going to sit there with the wife and chew the fat with a few friends. But by the time I got there, the ol’ball and chain got in a tiff with me. She left me there by myself and I ended up drinking Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale style beer brewed by Boulevard Brewing Co. in Kansas City, MO. It is really good beer that is served in a small glass. It has a somewhat malty taste.
So I was in a bad mood, I felt defensive and I ended up calling my dad to get me and give me a ride home. After crashing out for the night, I had a miserable time. It sucked. After all that booze I snuck and drank—I didn’t even enjoy them.
Tuesday morning I drank a can of Fosters Bitters. In the afternoon I had a large sake drink at the sushi bar. Then I drank more sake with my dinner. So the next day I decided I was through drinking for a while. I didn’t drink anything for the next two days. I decided to do the “just for the day” routine and really stick to it. It is the end of day two and I have avoided any booze of any kind. It is working. I do have some to take, but that doesn’t count as far as I’m concerned. It is a little easier, but I could have just as easily drunk anyway.

Hurray for me!
