For several years now Halloween has been my favorite holiday.
That is because I was trying to practice the religion of Druidry. I studied
that religion for a few years and after a while, I drifted back to humanist
beliefs, specifically Epicureanism. I found that school of philosophy more to
my liking. I just had too hard a time believing in god or gods (as in the case
of pagan religions—the belief in more than one god). I still like the idea of
honoring my ancestors who took this day very seriously as the new year’s day of
the time period. It was a holy day where spirits of the dead could come back and
visit the living.
It is also a fun holiday. I can dress up as my favorite
revolutionary from history, such as Che Guevara. This year I dressed as one of
Pol Pot’s (ប៉ុល ពត) followers. Dressing up as
historical characters is part of the fun of Halloween.
I went to Kirbys this year. They had a Halloween Party with
three different DJs playing music all night. Much of the music was Goth, but
there was also some Glam, punk and progressive rock. My old friend from high
school Tom was there. Casher wanted to come but he couldn’t make it. I had a
few beers, about four, Mickeys, a pumpkin beer and Red Tail Amber. I enhanced
the night with ក.
